Colorado State University Global, SCTE Launch Online Certificate Program

Colorado State University Global (CSU Global), based in Denver, Colo., recently announced a partnership with CableLabs subsidiary the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) to launch an online certificate training program for broadband professionals, according to a news release. The Broadband Operations Management Certificate was designed to offer flexible and cost-conscious training at special tuition rates for members of SCTE around the world. The ultimate goal is to address the coming need to replace an aging workforce with skilled workers, the news release reports.

“We are honored to partner with SCTE to address a critical need in our state and across the nation,” said CSU Global President Dr. Becky Takeda-Tinker. “This partnership not only provides educational training opportunities but also directly contributes to the economic vitality and connectivity of our communities. Partnering with leading organizations like SCTE allows us to stay at the forefront of industry needs, ensuring our programs are continuously aligned with the current technical skills and knowledge employers are seeking for learner workplace and professional success.”

The online and asynchronous program is the first in the state to combine work-based learning and hands-on experience. Within the field of broadband infrastructure, it offers training in topics like fiber optics, utility safety, directional drilling, and leadership skills. It provides special tuition rates for SCTE members and academic credit for certain SCTE certifications and courses, as well as accessibility options for distance learners.

“Our partnership with CSU Global creates a clear pathway for SCTE members to advance their careers,” said SCTE President and CEO Maria Popo. “By turning SCTE certifications into college credit and lowering tuition costs, members gain more value from their SCTE learning. Together, we are strengthening the workforce pipeline by expanding opportunities that attract, develop and retain skilled broadband professionals.”
