Tips for Reducing Illness-Related Absenteeism

It’s flu season. Illness is a main cause of student and staff absenteeism. Pathogenic organisms (germs, viruses, bacteria) are easily transmitted in areas where people gather, such as in educational facilities, and can result in infections and illness. Those illness can then result in days out of school for students as well as staff, impacting the process of education. Diseases such as the flu, the common cold and norovirus (vomiting/diarrhea, stomach flu), are common — and now the coronavirus is making news — but their occurrence and spread can be reduced by good hand hygiene and routine cleaning and disinfection of commonly touched surfaces.

What can school and campus administrators do to help curb the spread of disease-causing pathogens and therefore reduce illness-related absenteeism? They can work to create a more hygienic learning environment.

In this presentation, information and advice will be presented that will assist you in creating a healthier environment for your students and staff. Please join us to learn about:
