Enhancing and Supporting Education Through Interior Design

Come and discover with us the connection between education and design. What is education through a designer's eye? How does color psychology influence human behavior and how do patterns evoke human interactions and impact our sense of comfort and ease? Explore with us the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to flooring selections and see the power of flooring in educational environments. We will share research and user response that informs and improves educational performance outcomes. Project examples will include:

  • Early learning schools;
  • PreK-8 school design concepts;
  • A 1927 vintage high school renovation; and
  • Several higher education environments.

Learning objectives:

  • The use of color psychology in educational environments.
  • How patterns influence behaviors.
  • Compare flooring types, application, performance, durability and maintenance.
  • Biophilic data and the implications of nature-based design.
  • How to do pre and post-occupancy research.

Date: Thursday, April 16
