UNLV University Libraries Join HathiTrust

LAS VEGAS, NV – The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) University Libraries recently joined HathiTrust, a partnership of research institutions committed to preserving and providing access to digitized monographs and other materials via a shared repository.

Nearly 100 HathiTrust partners bring an excess of 13 million volumes of copyrighted and public domain materials to lifelong learners worldwide. More than five centuries and 400 languages represented in the HathiTrust repository will now be available to the UNLV community through the Libraries’ web portal.

“The UNLV University Libraries have long recognized the value of digitization and the long-term preservation of knowledge, as evidenced by our own Digital Collections Department and the work we have under way on digital asset management,” says UNLV University Libraries Dean Patricia Iannuzzi. “Joining HathiTrust was a natural next step for us in our goal to provide deeper access to the world’s print record for the UNLV community and to participate with research libraries across the globe to preserve our heritage.”

HathiTrust repository users can conduct bibliographic or full-text searches, read and download public domain and open access materials online, and create their own sharable collections using HathiTrust’s collection-building feature. Forthcoming to the HathiTrust repository are U.S. federal documents, images, and audio files in addition to its vast book and journal collection.
