TAMIU Partners with Greystar for Residence Hall Management

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) in Laredo, Texas, recently announced a partnership with Greystar Real Estate Partners, LLC, for Greystar to manage its Office of Housing and Residence Life, according to a news release. Greystar will take over the operations for the university’s two student housing communities, University Village and the Residential Learning Community, including aspects like marketing, facilities, leasing, custodial, residence life, and groundskeeping.

“We're excited to work with Texas A&M International University to create an elevated experience for students who live in campus housing,” said Bradley Shaw, Senior Director of Real Estate at Greystar. “We view student housing as more than just a place to live, and plan to develop a student life that will help build a new culture among student residents—as well as with the broader campus community.”

The university has invested $6 million into its housing facilities in the last two years. The ultimate goal is to foster a sense of community, encourage positive interactions among the community, and rebuild residence life on campus beyond the pandemic era, the news release reports. Greystar will also increase the number of resident advisors and staff, as well as their training and available resources.

“Campus-based undergraduate and graduate housing is more than a place to sleep; it is a place to live the University experience,” said Dr. Pablo Arenaz, TAMIU President. “Our new residential life initiatives embrace the whole University experience including academic support and out-of-classroom educational experiences as our student residents transition from their parent's home to their own home.”

University Village has a 250-bed capacity with options for two or four bedrooms. The facility has a pool, clubhouse, study space, laundry facilities, and a computer lab. The Residential Learning Community is a traditional, 436-bed residence hall comprised of four buildings of three floors each. Amenities include a community center, a game room, a media room, conference rooms, laundry facilities, and a pool, according to the news release.
