UWF Cybersecurity Graduate Program Earns Professional Science Master's Affiliation

PENSACOLA, FL — The University of West Florida’s (UWF) Master of Science in Administration, specialization in Cybersecurity (MSA/Cybersecurity) has earned the Professional Science Master’s Affiliation. The MSA in Cybersecurity is an entirely online, interdisciplinary degree that allows students to pursue advanced training while simultaneously developing workplace skills. This program prepares Cybersecurity graduate students for high-level Cybersecurity career options, and admission to doctoral programs and professional schools.

“Through this affiliation we will be able to keep communications lines open between our department and the industry partners that are using their experiences in Cybersecurity to instruct the courses,” says Dr. Sikha Bagui, chair of the UWF Department of Computer Science and Director of UWF’s Center for Cybersecurity. “The combination of industry and research experience will prepare students for present and future professional career opportunities in the field of Cybersecurity.”

Professional Science Master’s degrees are innovative, hybrid graduate programs designed to allow students to pursue advanced training in natural science, technology, engineering, mathematics or computational sciences, while simultaneously developing professional workplace skills that are highly valued by employers. The MSA with a specialization in Cybersecurity is part of the recently launched UWF Center for Cybersecurity, which provides a hub for research on cybersecurity and opportunities for students to move into high-demand career fields through collaborative partnerships. The Center was funded and made possible by an IT Performance Grant provided through the Florida Legislature. The University was one of four successful universities to receive the grant through an awards process in the State University System.
