Spaces4Learning Announces 2024 Education Design Showcase Winners

Spaces4Learning is proud to announce the winners of the 2024 Education Design Showcase!

Now in its 25th year, the S4L Education Design Showcase honors innovative solutions in planning, design, architecture, and construction across K–12 and higher education. The program’s goal is to share ideas and best practices to help schools of all grade levels achieve outstanding learning environments.

This year, we’ve awarded two K–12 and two higher ed Grand Prize winners in the categories of New Construction, Renovation, and Spaces, as well of two Project of Distinction winners deemed worthy of additional recognition.

“This year’s Education Design Showcase entries demonstrated continued innovations and commitment to student success—not just academically, but wholistically,” said Matt Jones, senior editor for Spaces4Learning. “Congratulations to this year’s winners for their outstanding projects and for the work that they do.”

    Established in 1999, the Education Design Showcase is a vehicle for showing off innovative — yet practical — solutions in planning, design, architecture, and construction. The Barbara Vick Western Branch has been recognized with an EDS 2026 Grand Prize award in the category of Renovation.

  • Deferred Maintenance Issues Growing at Universities, Gordian Reports

    U.S. colleges and universities are falling increasingly behind on facilities maintenance and repair, according to Gordian’s 13th annual State of Facilities in Higher Education report. The deferred capital renewal burden has reached $156 per gross square foot, an 8% increase over the previous year.
