The Kids In Need Foundation Kick Starts a National Back-to-School Fundraiser

During the week of August 10, #kickstartBTS aims to raise $50,000 to provide school supplies for students in need

Dayton, Ohio –– The Kids In Need Foundation, a national, non-profit organization dedicated to providing free school supplies to economically disadvantaged school children and under-funded teachers, announces today a national week-long fundraising initiative, #kickstartBTS. Beginning August 10th, Kids In Need will raise $50,000 so students most in need can have access to free school supplies and the best chance at success in the classroom.

With $50,000, The Kids In Need Foundation can have tremendous impact in benefitting approximately 3.6 million children and 120,000 teachers annually through a network of 32 Resource Centers and the School Ready Supplies program.

“We see and hear daily about kids feeling their dream has come true when they receive their first backpack. They are thrilled when they are given new school supplies, especially those that may have never received something new before in their lives,” said Dave Smith, executive director of The Kids in Need Foundation. “Through the generous #kickstartBTS donations, we can help more students feel confident and empowered to do their very best.”

To donate to #kickstartBTS:

  • Visit give.kinf.org.
  • Call the Kids in Need Foundation office at 877-296-1231, ext 300, to make a donation over the phone. Ask for Becky.
  • Text the word SCHOOL to 85944 to make a $10 donation. A one-time donation of $10 will be added to the mobile phone bill or deducted from the prepaid balance. Messaging & Data rates may apply.

“Most children have dreams that go beyond the classroom. Removing the barrier of not having school supplies is one less obstacle for them to overcome,” said Smith. “While the needs of school supplies are immediate, the result of children being able to do their homework and participate in the classroom is far-reaching.”

    The Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District near Fort Worth, Texas, recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new replacement middle school campus, according to a news release. The new facility for Wayside Middle School, originally established in 1964, was built on the site of the former district administration building and funded through Bond Proposition A in 2023.
