ASCD Names Deborah Hall Chief Operations Officer

Alexandria, Va. — ASCD, a global community dedicated to excellence in learning, teaching, and leading, announced that Deborah Hall has been promoted to chief operations officer for the association. Hall joined ASCD in 1999 and spent the past 15 years as chief human resources and organizational services officer. In her new role, Hall will oversee ASCD’s Administrative Services; Financial Services; Human Resources (HR); Information Technology (IT) Operations and Engineering; Legal; and Meetings and Travel Services units.

"Deborah's leadership during her time here at ASCD has helped shape our strategic vision and mold the association not only into what it is today, but can be in the future. During her time at ASCD, Hall has provided organizational leadership and direction in the development, implementation, and achievement of ASCD’s strategic plan and organizational goals. In her previous role, she was responsible for human resources strategic planning, employment law and compliance, talent management and organizational structure, employee relations, communications, and more.

Prior to joining ASCD, Hall was the corporate director for human resources at Software Control International, Inc., an information technology firm located in Alexandria, Va. She also held several positions at the American Red Cross at the regional and national levels.

Hall holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boston University, a master’s degree in human resources management from Trinity University, a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation from the HR Certification Institute, and a Senior Certified Professional designation from the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM-SCP).
