Student Union Opened at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

The Mussallem Union project at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN, was recently completed, and opened to the student community for the first time. The feature-rich facility serves as a place for students to socialize, study, and relax.

Some of the spaces in the Mussallem Union include a coffee/smoothie bar, a café, an outdoor patio, conference rooms, and the Office of Career Services. Aside from being a gathering place for students, the Mussallem also acts as a campus welcome center for visitors to the school. The project, which began in 2016, is named after project donors Linda and Rose-Hulman graduate Mike Mussallem.

    Stanford University in Stanford, Calif., recently announced the end of construction on a new home for its Graduate School of Education, according to a news release. The university partnered with McCarthy Building Companies on the 160,000-square-foot project, which involved two major renovations and one new construction effort.

The awards program launched in 1999 with the goal of celebrating innovative, practical solutions in the planning, design, and construction of K–12 and higher-education facilities. EDS recognizes new developments that help achieve optimal learning environments, as well as the architecture firms that brought the ideas to life.
