Greenfield Community College Partners with Castleton University

GREENFIELD, MA, and CASTLETON, VT – Greenfield Community College and Castleton University have formed a collaborative agreement to create a pathway for bachelor’s degree completion.

The agreement creates a streamlined transition for Greenfield graduates who have completed an associate degree in Environmental Conservation to enter Castleton’s bachelor-degree program in Environmental Science.

Under the agreement, students who graduate from Greenfield with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher will qualify for guaranteed admission to Castleton’s Environmental Science program. Students coming from Greenfield with a completed associate degree will be granted junior standing in their first year and complete their remaining credits toward a bachelor’s degree at Castleton.

“We are committed to delivering an affordable and accessible liberal arts education combined with the real-world experience employers are seeking,” says Castleton University President Dr. Karen M. Scolforo. “This agreement will provide Greenfield Community College graduates in Environmental Conservation a seamless path to further their education.”

This agreement builds on the existing partnership that was established last year to create a smooth transition from Greenfield to Castleton.

Greenfield graduates are also eligible for the Maple Scholarship, which reduces out-of-state tuition to the equivalent of Vermont resident tuition when a student enrolls at Castleton.

To qualify for the Maple Scholarship, a candidate must be a resident of a county that neighbors Vermont or in the process of earning an associate’s degree from Greenfield. Recipients of the Maple Scholarship must be full-time matriculated students, live on campus, and maintain satisfactory academic progress. The Maple Scholarship is renewable each year a student meets the requirements.

Students who have earned an associate degree from Greenfield will be considered for additional merit scholarships.

Greenfield Community College is a fully accredited, not-for-profit institution located in Greenfield, MA, offering more than 50 programs leading to an associate degree or certificate.

Castleton University, formerly known as Castleton State College, is a public liberal arts college in Castleton, VT. Castleton offers more than 30 undergraduate programs, as well as master's degrees in education and accounting.
