Register for Free Illinois School Safety Conference

The Illinois State Board of Education, along with the Illinois State Police and several other agencies, will host a free one-day conference focused on school safety and crisis prevention. The 15th annual Illinois School Safety Conference will take place in Niles, Illinois on April 16, 2020.

The conference will feature speakers and panelists who will share practical information to enhance the safety and security of schools. The event is free for district and school administrators, police and fire departments, transportation directors, and safety and emergency managers.

Speakers include:

  • Bruce Talbot, Retired Police Sergeant, Police Drug Training Specialist: What Has Been the Effect of Recreational Cannabis on Colorado Schools? Will Illinois Have the Same Experience?
  • Paul Timm, PSP, Vice President, Facility Engineering Associates: Changing the School Culture - Heightening Staff Awareness
  • Molly Bradley Hudgens, School Counselor, Sycamore Middle School in Pleasant View Tennessee and Congressional Medal of Honor Citizens Honor Recipient: Recognizing Red Flags – An Educator’s Role in Preventing School Violence
  • Theresa Campbell, President, Safer Schools Together: Responding to Digital Threats - A Review of Recent Cases, Lessons Learned, and Challenges that Frontline Investigators Currently Face
  • Mia Ray Langheim, School Intelligence Officer, Illinois State Police, Statewide Terrorism & Intelligence Center

Attendees must show their school or agency ID to enter. The event includes free continental breakfast and lunch and will have onsite vendors offering the latest safety products and services.

The registration deadline is April 9, 2020. Space is limited and registration may be capped due to capacity.
