SNHU Becomes the USO's Worldwide Education Partner

MANCHESTER, NH – As part of its ongoing commitment to support the educational needs of our nation’s military, Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) has partnered with the United Service Organization (USO), a nonprofit organization recognized for providing morale-boosting programs, services and entertainment to service members and their families.

As an education provider of the USO, SNHU will provide educational and financial literacy opportunities onsite at USO locations throughout the country, which will support service members as they transition back into civilian life.

Current military students and graduates of SNHU will be able to take advantage of internship opportunities offered by the USO. A speaker series with key USO leadership and service members also will be created to provide an opportunity for students to learn from practitioners in the field, help identify career paths and share the realities of challenges faced when transitioning from active duty.

“This partnership is about more than raising scholarship dollars, it is about helping people achieve their educational and professional goals through affordable and accessible programs that meet the unique needs of students returning home from military service,” says Colonel Wil Zemp, U.S. Army (Ret.), chief of staff at Southern New Hampshire University. “We are thrilled to be working with the USO to help service members take the next steps to transition to civilian life and look forward to collaborating with the USO on how best to help the men and women who have done so much for us.”

“It is critical for our service members and military families to feel supported throughout every step of their journey in the military, especially when that journey is coming to an end,” says Lisa Anastasi, USO chief development officer. “SNHU’s support allows the USO to provide valuable educational and financial literacy support to service members and their families during an important time in their lives. We hope the support we provide with partners like SNHU remind our nation’s military that the sacrifices they make are not only acknowledged, but thoroughly appreciated.”

USO Transition 360 Alliance

A key component of the partnership is SNHU’s role in the USO’s Transition 360 Alliance, an initiative to help U.S. military personnel and their families successfully transition back into civilian life after their service ends. The USO Transition 360 Alliance leverages the USO’s global resources and the expertise of nonprofit organizations to provide a broader range of programs and services to support troops and military families in developing a plan for the future, pursuing new career paths, and strengthening their families and community networks.

SNHU will provide onsite support and education at USO/RP6 locations on topics including application preparation assistance, financial aid instruction, career outlook guidance, and skills and culture preparation. USO/RP6 centers offer personalized support to help service members, veterans and their families as they develop an action plan for their transition, and provide resources in their community that can help them reach their financial, career and wellness goals. Additionally, military members and their dependents at all USO locations worldwide will receive scholarship opportunities to ease the transition to civilian life.

SNHU’s Commitment to Support Military Personnel

Ranked among the top 15 percent of military-friendly schools nationwide, SNHU has dedicated military academic and career advisors, with personal military experience, focused on ensuring the success of military students.

SNHU also offers discounts on tuition of up to 30 percent for active-duty service members and their spouses, as well as a generous transfer policy and consideration for military training and experience.
