AASA Releases Communications Tools to Promote America's Public Schools

Alexandria, Va. – AASA, The School Superintendents Association, released today the I Love Public Education Toolkit, an online resource to help educators, business and community leaders, parents and the media change the national dialogue about public schools and highlight the positive impact public education is making throughout our country.

AASA, founded in 1865, is the premier organization for our nation’s superintendents serving thousands of education leaders throughout the United States.

“Public schools serve as the lifeblood of our democracy. They’re essential when it comes to developing future generations of students to be successful, contributing members of society,” said Daniel A. Domenech, executive director AASA, in his video introduction. “There is no better time than now to speak out about the value of public education. A key component of the campaign includes fostering conversations and strong actions to allow schools to provide the best support for students and members of the communities in which they live.”

Last summer, AASA launched the I Love Public Education campaign, an on-going effort to highlight the critical role public schools play as the bedrock of our civic society and their work to prepare students to be successful, contributing members of local, national and global communities. As an extension of the campaign, this toolkit serves as a guiding resource that anyone with a stake in education can tap into to help share the good news stories generated by their students and families with audiences not only within the boundaries of their districts, but throughout the country.      

The toolkit contains fact sheets, messages and talking points, which explain the campaign’s objectives; facts and figures about public education and key issues; templates for central office staff to utilize when communicating with board members, local communities and the media; suggested social media messaging and images, which are easy to share across district and personal social media channels; and additional badges, templates and more.

This announcement comes on the eve of AASA’s National Conference on Education, which annually convenes hundreds of school superintendents — America’s foremost thought leaders on public education — to discuss the most critical issues facing our nation’s schools. This year’s gathering will take place in Nashville, Tenn., Feb. 15-17, 2018. On Day No. 1 of the conference, the National Superintendent of the Year® will be announced. The following day, attendees will participate in the I Love Public Education rally, sending a signal to educators, policymakers, business leaders, media and parents to promote public schools and the more than 50 million students who attend them.

The British Columbian Geometrik specializes in designing and manufacturing wood acoustical and wall systems.
