Telecommunications Provider Zayo Acquires Education Networks of America

Zayo Group Holdings announced today it has acquired Education Networks of America, as the combined company aims to expand to provide managed network connectivity, communications, cloud technology, and cybersecurity services to more K–12 school districts participating in the federal E-Rate program, according to a news release.

Including ENA’s customers, Zayo’s K–12 client base now includes approximately 1,150 districts across Tennessee, Indiana, Georgia, Maryland, Florida, Washington, Colorado, Oregon, California, and Arizona, the company said. Zayo began serving K–12 districts about six years ago; the company’s wholly owned Tier 1 IP backbone, spanning 134,000 miles across North America and Europe, also serves customers in the healthcare, government, and library sectors.

ENA was previously owned by ZMC, an operator of media, communications, and entertainment businesses. Earlier this year, Zayo acquired QOS Networks, named Lisa Hook to its board of directors, and rolled out its “largest-ever organic network expansion,” the company said.
