Call for Opinions: Spaces4Learning 2025 Predictions for Educational Facilities

The K–12 and higher education facilities landscapes are always evolving. Schools are constantly adapting to technology advances, pedagogy changes, sustainability initiatives, and more. As 2025 approaches, we at Spaces4Learning are asking our readership—school administrators, facilities managers, architects, engineers, builders, superintendents, designers, and vendors—to send us their predictions for educational facilities for the coming year.

Specifically, we’re asking for opinions on the following four topics:

  • Classroom Design
  • Health & Safety
  • Materials & Construction
  • Technology

Please address each topic in 200 words or less, and you’re welcome to address as many or as few as you’d like. Email them to [email protected], and in the subject line, please include “2025 Educational Trends Opinion Submission” as well as your chosen topics. Please also include your name, title, organization (if applicable), and a brief (1-2 sentence) bio. The deadline for submissions is Friday, Dec. 27, 2024.

  • Minneapolis Public Schools Continues Work on New Construction, Renovation Projects

    Minneapolis Public Schools in Minneapolis, Minn., is working with integrated construction management firm Kraus-Anderson on renovations to North High School that include a new Career & Technical Education (CTE) Center, according to a news release. The three major components of the project are new academic and athletic spaces, a new central student commons, and a North CTE Center.

  • Saint Francis University Opens Aviation Education Center

    Saint Francis University in Loretto, Penn., recently held a Blessing and Dedication ceremony for its new Aviation Education Center at the John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport, according to a news release. The building’s opening coincides with the inaugural year of the university’s FAA-certified Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) program.

  • Minnesota K–12 District Completes New Elementary School

    Rock Ridge Public Schools in Virginia, Minn., recently announced that construction of the district’s newest elementary school is complete. North Star Elementary cost $28.5 million and has the capacity for 600 students in grades 3–6, according to a news release.

  • UMass Amherst to Build New School of Public Health & Health Services HUB

    The University of Massachusetts Amherst in Amherst, Mass., recently began construction on a new home for the School of Public Health & Health Services (SPHHS), whose current academic spaces are currently scattered around campus, according to a news release.
