Ryan Companies Completes Construction on Three U.S. Charter Schools

Ryan Companies US, Inc., recently partnered with Red Apple Development (RAD) and Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) to build three new charter schools in South Carolina and Louisiana, according to a news release. Ryan served as general contractor with RAD as the developer of record.

Discovery School at Myrtle Beach in Conway, S.C., measures in at 45,000 square feet and was developed in partnership with the Charter Education Board of South Carolina. The K–8 campus features open and collaborative learning spaces, individualized learning plans, and accelerated academic tracks.

Vermilion Charter Academy in Maurice, La., currently serves students grades 6–9 but is the first phase of a longer-term K–12 campus. It covers 38,000 square feet and supports a STEM-focused curriculum, the news release reports.

Finally, Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy Middle School in Lafayette, La., measures 69,769 square feet and stands two stories. It serves students in grades 5–8 and added a gym, track, field, concession building, bleachers, and a car loop to a multi-campus complex serving students of all grades.

According to the news release, construction on all three campuses began last summer and were completed in time for the beginning of the fall 2025 semester.

“Our nearly 15-year partnership with RAD and CSUSA is rooted in trust, performance, and shared values,” said Max Bosso, Ryan Companies’ Vice President of Real Estate Development. “These schools provide flexible, future-ready environments where students can thrive—and they reflect both RAD’s and CSUSA’s commitment to long-term community investment.”

Ryan, RAD, and CSUSA are also partnering on the upcoming Florida Charter Education Foundation project in Sarasota, Fla., which is scheduled to open in 2026 and will serve students grades K–8.

“From relieving overcrowding to advancing long-term K-12 visions, these projects underscore our ability to deliver educational spaces that are not only functional but visionary,” said Bosso. “Our continued collaboration with RAD and CSUSA, spanning from early childhood through high school, reflects their confidence in our ability to deliver at every stage of learning.”
