The Los Angeles Film School Expands Programs And Campus

HOLLYWOOD, CA — The Los Angeles Film School has announced a string of new developments that further establish the boutique creative college as the premier home for the next generation of entertainment professionals. The expansion includes a new Bachelor of Science program in Film, the restoration of the historic Ivar Theatre and the opening of an English Language School facility known as ELS / Hollywood.

The Los Angeles Film School’s Bachelor's of Science in Film builds on the existing Associate of Science degree and is a career-focused and accredited 36-month program rooted in visual storytelling. The curriculum is designed to allow students an opportunity to focus on an elected concentration of study in the following disciplines: cinematography/visual effects, writing/directing, editing/visual effects, production design/visual effects and producing.

“The goal of the program is to nurture artists so that they can develop their voice,” says Charles Kanganis, Film program manager. “Throughout the course of the program, our students will work to build a portfolio that launches them into the entertainment industry.”

The Bachelor of Science degree program in Film is introduced on the heels of announcing new Bachelor of Science degree programs in Animation & VFX and Game Production & Design, in addition to online Bachelor of Science degree programs in Digital Filmmaking and Entertainment Business. “Our new programs are an expansion of what we do best: Hands-on training on the latest technology taught by amazing Hollywood talent,” says president and CEO of The Los Angeles Film School Diana Derycz-Kessler.

The Los Angeles Film School's growth includes the restoration of the historical Ivar Theatre, a 6,000-square-foot venue offering a live performance stage and expansive production spaces. The Ivar will attract industry showcases, private events and prominent artist performances, and is the home to the newest live-sound training component for students of The Los Angeles Film School’s Music Production program. This renovated space features a complement of Harman audio gear from JBL, Soundcraft and dbx, and has a newly installed moving lights system by Martin Professional Lighting.

Building off of the existing international student population, the brand new ELS facility is located within LA Film School’s campus and includes classrooms, offices and the Language Technology Center, a computer and instructor-based learning environment created by ELS. Students will gain access to a range of the school’s facilities, including the Student Resource Center. Students will also have the opportunity to engage and network with peers studying an array of disciplines in the industry.

This partnership with ELS Hollywood furthers the college’s goal of diversity and ongoing belief that students from all backgrounds can converge in Hollywood and become the next generation of industry leaders.
