Special Sessions Announced for League for Innovation in the Community College's 2020 Innovations Conference

SEATTLE – The League for Innovation in the Community College (League) announces a detailed special sessions program for the 2020 Innovations Conference, March 1-4, in Seattle, WA. With more than 350 presenters and more than 40 exhibitors and sponsors, this international gathering is the premier resource for innovative practices and programs in the community college. Nine special sessions scheduled over two days cover such topics as the community college baccalaureate and multi-institutional collaboration in support of closing equity gaps, and designing a College Promise program that creates a college-going culture on campus. Other special sessions include "Sharing Know-How: Developing and Growing a Community of Practice" and "Building Powerful Partnerships: Creating Market Responsive Programs." Additionally, The Cross Papers Fellow for 2020, Peter Ufland, will present a special session focused on his monograph — Empowering Students and Improving Learning Through Midterm Student Feedback — which will be available for purchase at the conference or at the League store, or free online for iStream subscribers, starting on March 2.     University of Virginia Selects Design-Build Team for New Residential Complex

    The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., recently announced that it has selected a design-build team for a new upper-class residential development on campus, according to a news release. Capstone Development Partners—in partnership with Elkus Manfredi Architects and the Hoar Construction/Hourigan construction team—will move forward with the three-building, 310,000-square-foot housing facility.

  • Hawaii Elementary School Breaks Ground on New Classroom Building

    Kealakehe Elementary School in Kailua, Hawaii, recently began construction on a new, $16-million classroom building for its campus, according to a news release. The 13,000-square-foot building will stand two stories and connect the existing upper and lower campuses.
