N.D. K–12 District Begins $12.6M Renovation, Addition Project

The Litchville-Marion School District in Marion, N.D., recently began a $12.6-million remodeling and addition project in partnership with construction firm Kraus-Anderson, according to a news release. The project will combine an outdated high school and elementary school into a single PreK–12 facility. Funding comes from a recently passed bond referendum.

The work entails the new construction of a 37,000-square-foot space and remodeling 17,300 square feet of the existing high school. The new addition will feature new classrooms, a multipurpose room and locker rooms, common areas, a kitchen, and a daycare facility. The district partnered with Ciavarella Design Architects for the project’s design.

Work crews will begin with the new addition while high-school students use the existing classrooms for the 2023–24 school year. Renovations to existing buildings will occur at the end of next school year, and construction has a scheduled completion of August 2024. The existing Marion school, originally built in 1925, will be demolished after the project’s completion, the news release reports.
