Clemson to Launch North America’s Largest College Campus Smart Parking Program

Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., recently announced a partnership with smart parking and curbside management solutions provider eleven-x to launch a smart parking initiative for its population of 29,000 students and faculty, according to a news release.

The eXactpark smart parking platform’s deployment involves the installation of more than 10,000 parking sensors and more than 40 digital signs around the 17,000-acre campus. Meanwhile, the corresponding eXactnav mobile parking app offers real-time guidance and wayfinding to available parking spots, with the ultimate goal of streamlining the campus experience.

The centralized platform captures consistent and accurate usage data for individual parking spots. In addition to helping users navigate to easy parking spots, it also provides the university with a holistic, data-driven picture of how parking assets are being used and how they can be improved.

“We are excited and proud to help Clemson University realize its vision of creating the best parking experience for its community through accurate, true occupancy data,” said Dan Mathers, CEO at eleven-x. “Furthermore, this ambitious installation will demonstrate to other institutions how smart parking technology can positively transform parking operations.”

Recently, eleven-x partner Parking Guidance Systems began the installation of wireless sensors into individual parking spots. It will also install more than forty digital signs at key corridors and intersections around campus to guide drivers toward openings. Finally, the university will also integrate the eXactnav app into the university’s TigersCommute app to provide real-time parking information to the community at large, according to the news release.
