Allegion US Partners with Two Colleges for Mobile Credential Technology

Allegion US recently announced a partnership with Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) and Denison College, in conjunction with Transact + CBORD, to install mobile credential technologies campus-wide, according to a news release. Implementing Mobile Student ID into Apple Wallet and Google Wallet will allow students access to campus facilities, amenities, and residence halls using just their phones. At both schools, the credentials will integrate into established access control system CS Access.

"With the successful mobile Wallet launches at FIT and Denison, it’s evident that mobile credentials are a viable solution for campuses of all sizes and profiles,” said Allegion’s Business Development Manager, Jeff Koziol. “Congratulations to Denison and FIT for their well-executed rollouts and the impressive adoption rates achieved since implementation earlier this year."

FIT upgraded its existing Allegion hardware infrastructure, replacing the reader modules on existing Schlage AD-400 wireless locks, according to the news release. Denison’s hardware infrastructure from Allegion was installed in 2021 and was already capable of supporting the transition.

The shift from physical to mobile credentials was a response to both student feedback and the need to modernize campuses to meet modern needs. It also creates a new campus standard of convenience, connectivity, and campus security, the news release reports.

“By adopting digital IDs, schools like FIT and Denison are doing more than modernizing credentials — they're showing an earnest commitment to student success,” said Executive Vice President & General Manager, Campus ID and Commerce, Rasheed Behrooznia, with Transact + CBORD. “Digital IDs have proven to remove barriers, foster a greater sense of belonging, and meet digital expectations. Today’s announcement marks an important shift toward an inclusive, secure, mobile-first campus experience for students at both of these schools.”
