Clover Replacement Middle School and New Elementary School Set to Begin Construction

Town of Clover, S.C. – Grading permits have been obtained and early site work is set to begin shortly for two new schools in the Clover School District, SC. The first is a new middle school on an undeveloped site at the intersection of Highway 55 and Barrett Road to replace the currently-operating Clover Middle School, at an estimated cost of $40 million dollars. The second is for a New Elementary School located on Oakridge Road, across the street from the existing Oakridge Middle School Site.

Timmons Group has teamed with LS3P Associates, LTD, and Moseley Architects, respectively, to prepare the site design for the building layouts, pedestrian circulation systems, car and bus drop-offs, athletic fields and running tracks, and utility and stormwater plans for the two schools. The plans for the middle school are similar to Lake Wylie’s Oakridge Middle School that opened in 2009, with growth capacity for up to 1,200 additional students. The elementary school is a new prototype developed for the school district.

Brian Crutchfield, PE, is the Timmons Group principal currently working on these projects. “We’re very pleased to see the early site package permits have been approved and construction can begin on the schools,” he said in a statement. “We will remain actively involved with the projects as Construction Documents for the building packages are completed, and those portions of the projects are bid out this fall. We are working towards a Fall 2016 opening date for both schools.”

In a survey of nearly 2,000 respondents, over 75% said they strongly favor the new middle school’s addition to the school system, and are pleased that the project is underway. Both schools are a part of multiple projects that were approved by a March 2014 bond referendum that includes two new schools, renovations to existing schools, and a new aquatic and fitness center.
