Achieving a 4.0 for Sustainability in Higher Education
This course assesses modern needs for higher education institutions to bring flexibility into a continuously transforming segment. Sustainability is at the forefront of higher institutional change; initiatives are made to not only reduce operating costs, but work to also attract and retain talent. The course will assert different sustainable techniques that apply to design and architecture in education spaces, as well as highlight major green building certification platforms that are creating specific paths for buildings to achieve their optimum potential. Topics covered include design addressing institutional needs, importance of materials, green building techniques, and various case studies.
K-12 sustainable building techniques and benefits will be touched on as well throughout the webinar. There are parallel gains that can be experienced to stakeholders through applying green building approaches when comparing higher education to K-12.

Speaker Information:
Ellen Randolph - Sustainability Specialist at Mohawk Group
Ellen holds a WELL AP credential. She leverages material transparency in marketing, builds educational content as it relates to sustainability in our built environments, assists with specifying green products, and works on corporate social responsibility initiatives and reporting. With a degree in physical geography and geospatial mapping, her original plans were focused on green space and environmental design for urban planning. She started her sustainability career at a wire manufacturing plant assisting with zero-landfill initiatives, environmental monitoring, and employee education until the opportunity arose at Mohawk for her to refocus talents towards human built spaces. Her passion and goals lie in facilitating our connection to nature and the creation of sustainable built environments that secure the long-term prosperity of both human and environmental health.
