2015 ETC Live Design International Student Sponsorship Application Now Available

MIDDLETON, WI — Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC) is now officially accepting applications for its 2015 LDI (Live Design International) Student Sponsorship. Sponsorship recipients will be awarded an all-expense-paid trip to the LDI tradeshow in Las Vegas, October 23 through 25. Graduate students and undergraduate seniors who are studying light design, theater technology or other related majors are all encouraged to apply by Friday, April 17.

“The opportunities the scholarship has offered me and the connections I made will serve me very well as I move out into the wider working world of lighting design,” says 2012 LDI Sponsorship recipient David Johnson. “It's great to know that companies as big as ETC take the development of young lighting professionals seriously.” The Sponsorship, designed to help launch students' careers, gives recipients the unique opportunity to network with industry professionals at the tradeshow. In addition, each student finalist is paired with a mentor in the industry who can offer them advice, support and guidance as they begin their careers in the arts.

ETC selects a minimum of six students — five from North America and at least one international student — for the LDI Student Sponsorship program, which covers the costs of hotel accommodations, round-trip airfare, full LDI conference passes and all meals during the tradeshow. Students will also receive exclusive swag, backstage access to the ETC tradeshow booth, and demos of the newest products. ETC also hosts a special networking event for Sponsorship recipients and a select group of industry professionals.

“LDI was one of the most amazing experiences of my professional and personal life, not just because of the amazing conference, but because of the incredible opportunity that ETC offered me,” says 2010 LDI Sponsorship recipient Rebecca Beasley. “The amount of new information, networking and lasting friendships that were formed during my attendance will stay with me for the rest of my life. I encourage students to apply for this truly unique and extraordinary opportunity.”
