University of Puget Sound Allocates Resources to New Welcome Center

A new Welcome Center is being planned at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. As part of a larger Campus Master Plan, the Center will serve as a home to the university's Office of Admission and as a welcoming space to prospective students, their families, and anyone else who is visiting the campus.

The project, which is a more recent addition to the Campus Master Plan, will be a central element in the university's efforts to recruit a bright and diverse student body. The building is being envisioned to include meeting spaces, offices, and hospitality spaces that will better serve the 5,000 students and families who visit the campus each year. There is also a planned courtyard and reception area.

The estimated $4 million capital project will be funded by donors.

    The University of Kentucky’s Board of Trustees recently received a $150-million gift from The Bill Gatton Foundation, according to a university news release, to build a new arts district on the campus in Lexington, Ky. The new district will feature a new College of Fine Arts building and a multi-hundred-seat theater, among other amenities.

    Stanford University in Stanford, Calif., recently announced the end of construction on a new home for its Graduate School of Education, according to a news release. The university partnered with McCarthy Building Companies on the 160,000-square-foot project, which involved two major renovations and one new construction effort.
