All the Wood Trade Under the Sun: 2019 World of Wood Convention Registration Now Open

Alexandria, Va. – The ongoing trade war has left the imported woods market facing continued uncertainty. It is a critical time to keep up on the latest policy and market developments that will have a direct impact on sourcing and sales. The 2019 World of Wood Convention offers attendees the opportunity to learn from and interact with speakers and panelists with the foremost expertise in market intelligence, regulatory compliance, and corporate leadership. The annual convention hosted by the International Wood Products Association will take place April 3-5, 2019, at the stunning Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona.

“Given the turbulent global trade market, there’s never been a more important time to attend World of Wood” said International Wood Products Association President Caroline McIlvain. “This event will host educational sessions and the chance to network with suppliers and customers from around the world—all in the beautiful foothills of Tucson’s Santa Catalina mountains.”

Over 300 importers, U.S. manufacturers, wholesalers, offshore suppliers, and service providers to the global wood products industry from nearly 30 countries attend this premier annual event. Highlights from this year’s gathering include:

  • Mark Hortsman, Co-Founder of Manager Tools, a management consulting and training firm.  He also co-hosts the Manager Tools podcast, the #1 business podcast in the world, with over 2 million downloads a month. Virtually all of the Fortune 500 are clients of Manager Tools, including Apple, General Motors, SpaceX, Novo Nordisk, Cisco, AT&T and Salesforce.com. The firm trains thousands of managers throughout the world every year working on-site within organizations or through the Manager Tools public conference forums, offered almost weekly and around the globe.
  • In conjunction with World of Wood, attendees can register for IWPA’s Advance Wood Trade Compliance Course from our Wood Trade Compliance Training and Due Diligence Tools series. This advanced course, created in partnership with World Resources Institute, covers sourcing strategies, risk assessment methods, validation of supplier compliance to requirements and updates on the latest regulations and enforcement actions.
  • Back by popular demand is the Supplier-Importer Exchange and Lunch. This event is a form of “speed dating” in which attendees will have an opportunity to connect with wood products suppliers of all types from around the world for a few minutes at a time. An efficient and affordable way for overseas suppliers to get the word out on their products.

The Loews Ventana Canyon Resort is a desert sanctuary located in a lush 100-acre desert garden at the foothills of the magnificent Santa Catalina Mountains, capturing the spirit, beauty and culture of the Southwest’s Sonoran Desert. Newly renovated guestrooms offer private terraces, breathtaking views of the area and every creature comfort.  Attendees and their families can take advantage of fun activities and networking events including the IWPA Annual Golf Classic at two internationally known Tom Fazio-designed PGA championship, 18-hole golf courses – The Canyon Course and the Mountain Course.

The Spouse Event will be a Four-Wheel-Drive excursion to the upper Sonoran Desert where participants will encounter the indicator of the Sonoran, the Giant Saguaro Cactus. Stand at the base of a 30-foot Saguaro and learn of its growth, the natural habitat and the Indian legends surrounding this amazing beauty.
