San Diego Neighborhood Debuts New TK–12 Campus

Integrated design firm DLR Group recently announced the completion of the Logan Memorial Education Campus in the Logan Heights area of San Diego, Calif., according to a news release. The project involved transforming an existing K–8 school into a TK–12 campus that marks the first high school in Logan Heights. The campus was designed to integrate with the community and offers services like a child development center, wellness center, preschool, a health clinic run by a third party, community rooms, and more, the news release reports.

“This campus will be a tremendous resource to the community and will provide generational opportunities for the students it serves,” said Buddy Gessel, AIA, NCARB, DLR Group Principal and Architect. “We are proud to partner with the San Diego Unified School District to bring this transformative project to this historic neighborhood.”

The campus was designed with input and feedback from the Logan Heights community. It includes spaces that were purposefully built to “promote collaboration, well-being, productivity, creativity, and instill a sense of pride the students take in their learning environment,” the news release reports.

The campus covers 241,000 square feet across 20 acres. It consists of four age-appropriate environments supporting students between infancy and twelfth grade, according to the press release.
