Tomball ISD Opens New Tomball West High School
Tomball Independent School District in Tomball, Texas, recently celebrated the official opening of Tomball West High School, the district's third comprehensive high school, with a community ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to a district news release. The new campus is one of the largest projects completed through the district's 2021 bond program and is intended to support continued enrollment growth while expanding educational opportunities for students.
The 531,762-square-foot facility will welcome its first students for the 2026–27 school year, initially serving grades 9 and 10 before expanding to a full four-year high school by the 2028–29 academic year. Tomball West High School becomes the district's 26th campus and is designed to accommodate the area's growing student population.
District leaders, staff, families, elected officials, and project partners gathered for the grand opening celebration, which included a ceremonial ribbon cutting, public tours of the campus, and the creation of a time capsule to commemorate the school's opening.
"This campus represents what can be achieved when a community comes together with purpose and a commitment to its students," said Superintendent Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora. "Congratulations to those joining the Tiger family and to all who will call Tomball West High School their home."
Principal Kevin Williams said the inaugural class will establish the traditions and culture that will define the campus for years to come.
“This campus is more than a new building; it is a promise to students, families, and this community that excellence is not just expected here—it is the standard,” said Williams in a local news story. “At Tomball West High School, excellence will not be an aspiration—it will be our expectation and our daily practice."
According to the district, the new high school reflects its long-term strategy to provide modern learning environments while accommodating continued population growth across northwest Harris County. Classes are scheduled to begin Aug. 18.
