Millikin University Center for Theatre and Dance Under Construction

Construction is underway on the campus of Millikin University in Decatur, IL, on its new Center for Theatre and Dance, with plans to open the building in fall 2020. The $29 million project will feature a 260-seat flexible theatre which includes an orchestra pit, balcony, and tech gallery with a tension wire grid. The new building will also feature lighting and sound labs, a costume studio, a costume classroom, collaboration spaces, and offices and support facilities for current staff and room for growth.

Millikin University Center for Theatre and Dance

The new building will house theatre support spaces as well as several production spaces for Millikin students to use. The center will allow faculty, staff, and students to collaborate more easily. Millikin's new Center for Theatre and Dance will also incorporate four acting studios, two dance studios, two design classrooms and practice rooms, as well as all new modern theatre equipment and LED lights.

Millikin's School of Theatre and Dance is a nationally recognized program, offering conservatory-style training rooted in a liberal arts education.

The architectural partner of the project is the Decatur, IL, firm BLDD.

    The West Sonoma County Union High School District (WSCUHSD) in Sebastopol, Calif., recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new CTE Center at Analy High School, according to a news release. The district partnered with Quattrocchi Kwok Architects (QKA) for the facility’s design and GCCI for its construction, and funding came from local Measure A bond funds.
