AASHE Sustainability Awards Submissions Open

The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) is currently accepting applications for the annual AASHE Sustainability Awards. The AASHE Sustainability Awards recognize sustainability achievements, research advancements, student leadership and outstanding leaders at institutions of higher education.

By raising the visibility of high-impact sustainability projects and pioneering research across college and university campuses, the awards program helps to disseminate innovations and inspire continued progress toward sustainability.

Award categories are:

  • Campus Sustainability Achievement Award. This award honors higher education institutions for successful implementation of projects that advance sustainability.
  • Campus Sustainability Research Award. This award recognizes published and unpublished research that contributes to the advancement of sustainability in higher education.
  • Student Sustainability Leadership Award. This award honors students and/or student teams from higher education who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in promoting sustainability on campus.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award. This award honors outstanding leaders who have made significant contributions to the advancement of sustainability in higher education over their lifetimes.

  • Springfield Breaks Ground on $53.7M Pipkin Middle School Rebuild

    Construction is underway on a new, state-of-the-art Pipkin Middle School in Springfield, Mo., a major step in Springfield Public Schools’ (SPS) long-term facility improvement plan, according to local news. The $53.7-million project officially broke ground in early June, following years of planning and community input aimed at modernizing aging infrastructure and addressing student capacity concerns.

  • College of the Mainland Starts Construction on New Library & Learning Center

    College of the Mainland in Texas City, Texas, recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Library & Learning Center, according to a news release. The new facility is part of a larger, $250-million campus expansion project funded by a 2023 bond program.
