Minnesota District Starts Construction on Early Childhood Learning Center

Sauk Rapids-Rice Public Schools in Sauk Rapids, Minn., recently announced that construction has begun on a new early childhood learning center and a new outdoor activities complex, according to a news release. The district partnered with Wold Architects & Engineers for the project’s design and Kraus-Anderson Companies for construction services. Both facilities are set to open in fall 2027.

The Early Childhood Learning Center will cost about $37.77 million and cover about 75,000 square feet. The facility will stand behind the existing Sauk Rapids-Rice High School and replace the existing Hillside building to offer improved accessibility and safety, as well as age-appropriate playground equipment, the news release reports.

The outdoor activities complex, meanwhile, will cost about $18.1 million. Amenities will include multipurpose turf fields; track and field spaces; a softball field; and space for the marching band, P.E. classes, and other student activities. The complex will also have improved ticket areas, concessions, storage space, and restrooms, according to the press release.
