Amazon Expands Lockers to More Than 500 College, University Campuses

Amazon recently announced that its Locker Network now totals more than 750 locations at more than 500 college and university campuses around the United States, according to a company news release. The lockers provide students with a convenient, secure way to receive Amazon packages on campus.

According to the news release, student can select the campus locker of their choice at checkout, and he or she will receive a notification when their package is ready to be picked up. Some campuses feature more than one Locker pickup point, offering students the ability to choose a location that fits with their schedules.

“College students are constantly on the move, and picking up a package should fit into their day—not the other way around,” said Viraj Chatterjee, Amazon Transportation’s Vice President. “Expanding Amazon Locker across college and university campuses nationwide puts secure package pickup directly into the flow of campus life.”

Students can search their address or ZIP code to find the closest or most convenient pickup locker. They can add the location to their Amazon address book and select it for delivery for eligible purposes. When the package is delivered, students receive an email directing them how to open the locker with a code, barcode, or the Amazon Shopping app. Students can forward that information to someone else if they need a friend or roommate to pick up the package for them, the news release reports.

Amazon Prime for Young Adults, available to college or university students as well as 18–24-year-olds, offers the standard benefits of Amazon Prime and 5% cash back in popular categories at half the usual cost, according to the news release.
