Warrendale, Pa. (PRWEB) June 06, 2014— The Chrysler Foundation has awarded $75,000 to the SAE Foundation to support SAE International’s award-winning A World In Motion® (AWIM) program, providing high-quality science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education programming to students in grades K-8.

The Chrysler Foundation’s support will help inspire and educate nearly 3,000 elementary and middle school students, teaching them critical math and science concepts in a hands-on, interactive program while exposing them to the possibilities that exist in STEM-related careers.

“In order to succeed in the society of tomorrow, all children need to understand and apply STEM concepts in a real-world integrated setting. Participating in AWIM teaches them to solve complex problems, communicate clearly, raise questions, assimilate information and work cooperatively toward common goals. We are grateful to the Chrysler Foundation for its support of critically important STEM programs such as AWIM,” commented Lori Gatmaitan, Director, SAE Foundation.

Over the last 20 years, AWIM has reached over four million students in all 50 states and Canadian provinces and territories. More than 25,000 engineers, scientists and technology professionals have volunteered in partnership with the AWIM program.

“Chrysler hopes that by engaging students at an early age, we can inspire the next generation of thought-leaders, innovators and problem-solvers that are so vital to our industry and America’s future,” said Mark M. Chernoby, Senior Vice President of Engineering, Chrysler Group LLC.
