Fortis College in Smyrna's New Campus Encourages Student Success

SMYRNA, GA – Students at Fortis College in Smyrna are preparing for careers in health care and professional trades in new surroundings. In the process, they’re also enjoying a dramatic "Wow!" experience.

Fortis College recently moved into a new campus in Cobb Center, adjacent to the International Academy of Smyrna. In this new setting, students and staff benefit from classrooms designed to enhance learning, updated laboratories with the latest equipment and healthcare technology, and a brand new Dental Clinic where students and staff provide no-charge or discounted services to the community.

"Our new location provides an environment that's intended to make students feel special, which they are. The facilities are designed to stimulate and encourage them to become successful graduates who have all the tools to reach their full potential, both professionally and personally," says campus President Henok Tirfe.

Tirfe believes the new campus creates an environment that helps students bridge to success, while also enriching available technology and faculty teaching options, and reinforcing "The Fortis Difference," a measurable approach to providing students the highest quality education experience.

Fortis College's new Atlanta-area campus in Smyrna, although a little more than three miles from its former location, offers a new world of educational opportunities and a more engaging learning experience.

"Our Cobb Center campus offers plenty of parking and easier access than our old location," Tirfe adds. "We chose this new campus location in order to better serve the community and our student population."

A key element of the campus' community outreach is making its Dental Clinic even more accessible to a new cross-section of the community. The Dental Clinic's goal is to ensure children in the community get the care and education needed for happy smiles through dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, x-rays, sealants and more because nothing's more joyous than a child's smile.

Approximately 500 students currently are enrolled at Fortis College-Smyrna, studying a variety of healthcare specializations from Medical Assisting to EMT and Dental Hygiene, and preparing for skilled trades in HVAC/R and Welding. From its new Smyrna campus, Fortis College expects it will be able to serve the growing Atlanta market and offer a variety of programs that prepare area residents for careers in dental, allied health and skilled trade fields well into the future.
