As a university asset, the new events center will be the home for the men's and women's basketball programs and women’s volleyball program, along with convocation and commencement ceremonies and other campus events. As a regional showplace venue, it will draw additional events to campus, not only contributing to the region's vibrancy but also enhancing the overall campus experience, a concern the university is constantly looking to address.

The UPMC Events Center includes the 4,000-seat Peoples Court arena, the new home of the RMU Colonials basketball and volleyball teams, and the Pittsburgh region’s newest concert venue. Artists who have performed to date include Evanescence, Why Don’t We, the Doobie Brothers, and Bryan Adams.

With 19,000 square feet of floor space and customizable LED screens including a 3-ton hanging video scoreboard and more than 500 feet of continuous display circling the floor, the venue is ideal for conventions and trade shows. The 5,200-square-foot conference center itself can be subdivided for multiple events.

Today's consumers, which include students, expect a top-tier experience when they come into an arena, and this facility will meet those needs. RMU attracts interest from excellent student-athletes for many reasons, including not only team success and visibility but also academic reputation, quality of professional preparation, and the overall beauty of the campus.

The new facility is managed by OVG Facilities, a division of Oak View Group.
