Editor's Note: Another School Year Comes to an End

Thanks for picking up the Spring 2023 issue of Spaces4Learning! Within these pages—or with the scroll of a finger—you’ll get a taste of some of the most pressing issues facing educational facilities today. Speaking of webinars—be sure to join us in June for the first-ever Spaces4Learning Virtual Summit! On Tuesday, June 13, we’ll offer two higher-education-themed sessions on learning spaces and classroom design with a third session regarding the best solutions to issues discussed. We’ll follow that up on Thursday, June 15, with two similar K–12-themed sessions. There’s still plenty of time to register for the free event!

    Illinois State University in Normal, Ill., recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts transformation project, according to university news. The series of new constructions and renovations will upgrade spaces in Centennial East, the Center for the Visual Arts, and the Center for the Performing Arts, as well as replace the existing Centennial West facility with a new Commons Building.

    The Waller Independent School District in Waller, Texas, recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for what will become its second high school, according to a news release.

  • Philadelphia Middle School Facility Earns LEED Gold Certification

    The Alternative Middle Years (AMY) at James Martin Middle School in Philadelphia, Penn., recently received a LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, according to a news release. The School District of Pennsylvania partnered with KSS Architects on the project.
